The Evansville Surgery Center was developed in 1984 by a small group of local physicians as an alternative to the traditional hospital stay. Their goal was to have a convenient and patient-centered facility that offered personalized care. Since 1984 the Evansville Surgery Center has provided outpatient surgical services to over 100,000 satisfied customers. Our medical staff has grown to over 100 physicians representing a variety of specialties. Facility History The Evansville Surgery Center Lincoln Avenue facility opened in December 1984 and closed in May 2001. That center originally opened with 4 operating rooms, 1 treatment room and had no overnight stay rooms. The Center was the only surgery center that served the Evansville community until 1995. In 2001, a new facility opened at Gateway on the Deaconess Women's Hospital campus. Gateway has 5 operating rooms, 1 treatment room and 4 overnight suites.
