Orthopaedics began with the treatment of crippled children by means of first braces, and then exercise. The word "orthopaedics is derived from two Greek words: orthos ("straight") and pais ("child"). Even today conservative, noninvasive medical and physical methods nearly always are used if possible to restore form and/or function. Patient care is individualized.

As a branch of medicine and a contemporary surgical specialty, orthopaedics is concerned with the diagnosis, care and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders: injury to or disease of the body's system of bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.

Degenerative diseases and disabilities affecting the musculoskeletal system cause loss of function and impair activity of many individuals, especially the aged. Congenital deformities are frequent. Consequently, orthopaedists treat a disproportionate number of geriatric and pediatric patients in comparison with their ratio in the general population. Our orthopaedic services include:

Arthroscopic Procedures
. This includes knee, shoulder, wrist, angle, elbow, finger and hip surgery.

Shoulder Procedures
. Including Rotator Cuff Repair, Acromioplasty, Mumford, and Manipulation of frozen shoulder.
Hand Procedures
. Including Carpal Tunnel Release, Trigger Finger, Ganglion, Nerve/Tendon Repair, Carpal-Metacarpal joint replacement for Arthritis, and Dupytren’s

Foot Procedures
. Bunionectomy, Hammer Toe Repair, Plantar Fascia Release, and Tarsal Tunnel Release

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Repair (ACL)
. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the main stabilizing ligaments in the knee. A tear of the ligament can be partial or complete. It is a serious injury leading to destabilization of the knee.

Posterior Cruciate Ligament Repair (PCL)
. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries typically occur during hyperflexion or with a blow to the knee during hyperextension.
